Should i purchase an acoustic guitar or banjo?

I'm new to this sort of thing, and I was interested in buying one of these. I adore the banjo because not a lot of people have them and the sound of it. On the other hand, I'm a good singer, and I think it'd be cool to Learn how to play songs i like and sing them while playing. I'm not sure because I have good plans for both, I'm just stuck, and I need People's opinions. Care to share yours?
