Does having a PPL license increasing your chance of being accepted as an RAF pilot?

In the Canadian Air force it matters only a little. It moves you up the merit list by about 1 place. As they intend to train you 'right' way (read as the military way) a PPL matters little. On the otherhand, a CPL with IFR and ME goes a long way to improving you chances. As a former Military pilot who gained my CPL prior to enrollment I can attest to validity of this statement,
