Question about filing for bankruptcy?

I am considering filing for bankruptcy, but have some questions first. The debts that I have are not a whole lot compared to others, but they are more than I can pay right now. They are mainly bills like, a Direct TV bill, an electric bill, an internet bill, 2 credit card bills, some medical bills. All of these accrued while I was trying to live on my own when I moved out of my parents house. I am now living back with my parents and I can not pay these bills because they just keep adding up. I would like to get these paid and someone suggested filing bankruptcy. I also have a car that I am behind on the payment with. If I filed for bankruptcy, would I be able to add my car payment and still keep my car? How does this work exactly and what are the pros and cons? Thanks for your help.
